SEGA Co., Ltd. has announced it will start selling NFT digital contents based on their popular IPs, as well as for those currently in development and to be released in the future. This content will comprise a variety of digital assets such as art and music from some franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega will also be exploring possible services that will enhance the NFT owner’s experience.

For context, an NFT is non-fungible token, a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable. NFTs can be used to represent items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files. Essentially, an NFT is a unique version of a digital asset, a certificate of authenticity that mirrors those of real life.
