Brazil’s INPI Announces New Fee Schedule Effective August 2025

On August 7, 2025, Brazil’s National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) will implement a new fee schedule for its services, as established by Ordinance INPI/PR No. 10/2025 and Ordinance GM/MDIC No. 110/2025. This update aims to modernize the country’s intellectual property system and promote greater inclusivity.

Key Highlights

  • Fee Adjustments: The new schedule introduces an average increase of 24.1% in service fees, addressing inflationary gaps since the last adjustment in 2012. Individual service increases are capped at 49%.
  • Discounts and Exemptions: A 50% discount applies to micro and small enterprises, individual microentrepreneurs, innovation-focused companies, scientific and technological institutions, non-profit entities, and public agencies for their own acts. Additionally, individuals registered in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) and persons with disabilities listed in the Federal Government’s Reference Registry are eligible for up to 100% fee exemptions.
  • Service Updates: The revised schedule includes new service codes, removal of obsolete services, and automation of processes such as the issuance of the First Decade of Trademark Validity and the granting of Patents, aiming to reduce bureaucracy and expedite formalization.

These changes reflect INPI’s commitment to enhancing efficiency and accessibility within Brazil’s intellectual property framework.
